Highest volume of Q1 office leasing activity in ten years achieved in Dublin in Q1 2014

Technology sector a major driver of demand
Dublin, 3rd April 2014 – Commercial property consultants CBRE today released statistics for office leasing transactions signed in Dublin in the first three months of 2014, which demonstrate that the volume of take-up achieved in Dublin in Q1 was the highest in 10 years. According to CBRE, a total of 60 office lettings were signed in Dublin during Q1 2014, totalling 63,352m2 between them. This compares to take-up of just under 40,000m2 achieved in the same period in 2013. Annual take-up of just over 170,000m2 was achieved in Dublin in 2013.

According to Marie Hunt, Executive Director and Head of Research at CBRE Ireland, “We continue to see strong volumes of leasing activity being achieved in the capital, with strong competition for the best office suites, which in turn is leading to rental growth in the Central Business District. The technology sector continues to be a major driver of demand with the three largest office lettings signed in the quarter being to Yahoo, Amazon and Dropbox”.
